Hello again from the Land of Smiles! I know I promised my next post was going to be from the deep past, but instead it's been a fairly eventful week so this post will be about current events; and I don't mean political current events! I'll start with some cute puppy shots. After all, who can resist cute puppies! Our next door neighbors, Pum's aunt and cousins, have three puppies. The mother is too old to have milk, so Pum goes over several times a day to feed the puppies.
Now their eyes are open!
The three of them resting up after getting fed!
At the same time, Pum is getting her business going. Her salon here in the village will provide the same amazing service and skillful care as her salon in Pakkret from a few years back. In addition she will rent fancy traditional Thai clothes for special occasions.
Training a new 'shampoo girl'! Our next door neighbor learning the trade!
Some of the traditional clothing she will be renting.
One of two sewing machines she acquired to make alterations as necessary.
Mango season is on!
This is a mature mango tree with lots of mangos! The next two shots are of mangos from one of our young trees.
YUM!
The next shots are of Pum's aunt 'weaving' a traditional mat. These mats are often gifts and are used for variety of things.
In our village there are always special things happening. Below are some shots from the monk blessing of Pum's sister's refurbished local shop.
The monks always eat first! You can see they have a huge variety of food to choose from. Once the monks have left, food is served to all in attendance. This monk blessing happened in the early evening on Friday and Saturday morning. Monks do not eat in the evening, but food is still served to all others in attendance.
We had a nice rain a few days ago; the first in at least 6 weeks!
And finally here is our original house and salon/guest house. We still need lots of landscaping and to finish the wall, but this is today!
More soon!
